During the closing years of the Millennium War,
The Gelidites were the descendants of the living nobility of Dericost, originating from the Plateau of Gelid. They formed an apocalyptic religious sect who believed that by studying frost-based magics, and developing an affinity for the cold, they could survive a Falatacot prophecy of a great ice age that would cleanse the world of their enemies.

Notes
HE 95: Adept Delacim arrives at Aerlinthe and opens fixed portals to Ithaenc, Haelan, Knorr, Nesortania, Elancia, Jalis, Aribel, Alastinae, Dernehale, Larchess, and the works at Seral Ipharsis and Lamihaar.
Did Gaerlin accompany Delacim? Gaerlan's Research Notes: "Soon I must return to Aerlinthe. My brother will begin to worry if I have not returned. There is still so much to study, but there will be other times."
Additional notes on the Aerlinthe trip from Gaerlan's Diary: "My brother and I have just returned from Aerlinthe. He was there to see that the portals were showing no odd signs of decay, or alteration. Of course I had my own reasons for being there." If this is referring to the same "must return to Aerlinthe" remark from Gaerlan's Research Notes, it may have occurred later than HE 95 as a follow-up to Delacim's first trip to Aerlinthe.
Also in the Diary: "I have kept that temple, a secret for so many years now." -- this would push back Gaerlan's discovery of the Citadel/temple, unsure how far. Maybe we can assume Gaerlan did accompany Delacim during his HE 95 Aerlinthe trip and discovered it then?
Diary: "Many years have passed since our youth. When we went to Aerlinthe that first time we were equals. He built the portal structure, while I visited the foundries and made my discovery. Now, he surpasses me in every way." -- Gaerlan accompanied Delacim to Aerlinthe multiple times
