Alatar Locke was the first great human explorer in the vast lands of Dereth. He was the first to chart the Direlands, the first to delve into the Halls of Lost Light<ref>The Lost Light</ref>, and discovered the Empyrean "The Floating City<ref>2000/10 Hollow Victory - A Stained Book</ref>" at least a decade before any other Isparian encountered it. <ref>2001/11 Dark Majesty - The Explorations of Alatar Locke</ref>
