Fun factoid, things like the global spell economy had physical manifestations in the upper left corner of the map. If you were a dev, it was possible to equip them.

A: If memory serves, prior to launch, an admin could pick up the spell economy and then log off with it. The item would get unloaded from memory, and would not longer respond to queries about stats for spell power, which resulted in ‘bad things’ happening.
